The Crochet Express National Crochet Month Blog Tour
Want to Chat about the Tour?
Part of the fun of taking a passenger steam train trip is talking with your fellow passengers. This year, we’re providing two locations where our passengers can get to know each other. We’d love to hear about your favorite things you’ve discovered on the tour and see photos of your current crochet projects. You’re invited to join us daily for virtual cocktails/appetizers and dinner. (We’ll be sharing links to some fabulous recipes!)
Ann Mancini-Williams, Glamour4You
Crochetville is very proud to have designer Ann Mancini-Williams with us today, March 16, as one of the featured designers on our 2016 Designer Blog Tour in honor of National Crochet Month (NatCroMo). If you’d like to know even more about Ann, check out our post from last year’s blog tour.
I LOVE yarn – the beautiful colors, the way it feels in my hands, even the smell of it! Crocheting is the most creative and relaxing thing in my life. Designing crochet patterns is the driving force within me that makes me come alive. I love to design all sorts of things: garments, accessories, household items, and, most especially, items for all-year-round!
1. Tell us about your favorite travel destination:
I don’t travel as much as I would like. But when I do, my favorite destination is to travel back home to Chicago!
2. Tell us about a “dream” travel location that you’d like to visit one day:
I would LOVE to travel somewhere warm, with crystal clear blue water and white sandy beaches. Somewhere tropical and exotic!
3. Do you visit yarn stores when traveling? If so, tell us about one of your favorite finds.
I like to go to the little, unknown, local yarn stores when I travel. I usually stumble upon them and am so intrigued by all the hand spun, hand dyed yarn – the luxury yarn that I dream of!
4. Packing: Tell us about any crochet clothing or accessories you pack when traveling. Do you have any cool packing tips to share?
Hats!! In winter, I never leave the house without one of my crochet hats. I have used one of my hats as a grocery bag when the plastic grocery bag broke!
5. Tell us about any crochet projects you take with you when traveling: How many projects do you take? How do you decide which ones to take?
I usually take 2-3 projects when I am traveling far, that way I will have a variety to work on. The projects I take are my most current designs I am working on, because those are the most fresh in my head.

If you’re not familiar with my work already, I’d like to share three of my designs with you.
1. Braided Glam 3n1, $5.99
The Braided Glam 3n1 features the same braiding that gives the peacoat, the button cap, and the gloves their texture and warmth. The Braided Glam 3n1 is the ultimate in versatility: you can wear it as a Cowl, a Slouch, or even a Ponytail Hat!
2. Totally Twisted Mini Messenger Bag, $4.99
The Totally Twisted Mini Messenger Bag is a unique work of art! The bag features many outstanding crochet techniques: Interlocking Crochet, Cables, and Surface Crochet. But don’t be scared – this bag is great for people of any crochet level! The Totally Twisted Mini Messenger Bag is a MUST HAVE for everyone!!
3. Tribal Typhoon Toque, $4.99
The Tribal Typhoon Toque is the perfect man hat (but of course it would look totally FAB on any woman too!!) The design starts in the center of the hat and spirals all the way towards the brim. The design’s straight and jagged lines lend to its appeal! Any man (or woman) would LOVE this hat!!
