I love both traveling and sharing my fiber arts knowledge with others. What better way to combine those two loves than by traveling around the country (or even the world!) teaching classes for local guild chapters and fiber arts groups and at local yarn stores.

I’m also happy to help coordinate a teach trip among several shops/guilds/groups in the same general area to help reduce travel expenses.

Crochet Classes

Certified instructor Amy Shelton will present Australian designer Jenny King’s new and revolutionary Get Squared™ technique for making stress-free, problem-free, high-fashion crochet garments. In this class, you will be converting the simplest of crochet stitches into a seamless top that is guaranteed to fit you perfectly, flatter your figure, and reveal your fabulous personality. Get Squared™ uses a deceptively simple formula to allow you to make all manner of shaped garments. Learn all the techniques you need without reading one pattern. Both the beginner and experienced crocheter will enjoy tearning the skills and techniques found in this class. This class is perfect for knitters with basic crochet skills who want to branch out into crocheting fashionable garments.

There’s no such thing as too much sparkle! Add some sparkle and glitz to your next crochet project with beads. During this technique class, you will learn two different methods for adding beads: add-as-you-go and pre-stringing. Learn how to attach beads to both right-side and wrong-side rows. You will also learn how to choose beads that will complement your chosen yarn.

Ponchos are no longer a relic from the 1970s. Retro is in, with a fresh new twist! You will learn to make a custom-fit poncho that can be worn two different ways. Wear the traditional way with points in front and back or choose the more modern look with the points over your shoulders. Fringe and collar are optional add-ons; instructions will be provided.

Knitted Jewelry Class

3 hour class

Students will make quick and easy I-cord using the Embellish Knit machine. Instructor will provide instructions for several different jewelry pieces using techniques such as braiding, Celtic knots, and Chinese knots.

Weaving Classes
[one_third]Continuous Weaving on a Triangle Loom
4 to 6 hour class
$40 to $60 per student[/one_third]

Learn how to weave on a 2.5 triangle loom and leave class with a completed beaded, fringed fashion scarf/shawlette. Once you have mastered the technique, a project can be completed in only 3-4 hours! These scarves make fabulous gifts for loved ones or items to sell. SPECIAL NOTE: Please do not wear any long-sleeve hand-knitted or crocheted or lacy tops to class as the sleeves may get stuck on the loom pins.

[one_third]Cut Strand Weaving on a Triangle Loom
4 to 6 hour class

Students will select pre-cut yarn strands in a wide variety of colors and yarn styles to create their very own unique fashion scarf on a 2.5 triangle loom.

[one_third]Intro to Pin Loom Weaving
3 hour class

Pin loom weaving is all the rage now! Learn how to weave several different textured squares on a 4” square pin loom as well as several techniques for weaving them together.
Leave class with a completed lavender-scented sachet. Students will also receive a printed booklet with pin loom weaving instructions.
