Ashley Valdez, Featured Crochet Hobbyist

Welcome to our blog tour! Here at Crochetville, we celebrate National Crochet Month with our NatCroMo Blog Tour. This year, we’re interviewing crochet designers, teachers, and hobbyists throughout March and our theme is crochet memories. You can browse all of this year’s blog tour content on our page NatCroMo Blog Tour 2020.

About Ashley Valdez

Please allow me to introduce our featured hobbyist of the day, Ashley Valdez. She enjoys crocheting blankets, beanies, and scarves. Today Ashley will share some of her crochet memories with us and we’ll showcase three of her crochet projects.

Ashley’s Crochet Memories

Would you share with us one of your earliest memories of crochet?

I always used to watch my great grandma crochet and make the kitchen towels with the top crocheted. I had no idea what she was doing but later in life I took up crochet at the request of my daughter (she was five years old and wanted me to make her stuff, lol) and to have that connection to my now-gone great grandma is amazing.

Would you share with us one of your most memorable experiences as a crocheter?

My uncle is very ill and I made him a blanket with very soft chunky yarn. It was a great feeling to bring him some comfort and to see how impressed and happy he was. He says he will cherish it.

Would you share with us another crochet memory?

I made my mom a huge blanket for Mother’s Day a few years ago and she loved it so much. Years later she is still saying I haven’t topped that gift.
