Book Review: Elegant, Fashionable, Chic Accessories to Crochet

My friend Karen McKenna asked me to participate in a blog tour promoting her brand-new book with Annie’s: Elegant, Fashionable, Chic Accessories to Crochet. I’m proud to be included among other blog tour participants such as Tammy Hildebrand, Susan Lowman, Kristin Omdahl, and Gwen Blakley-Kinsler.

Be sure to read all the way to the bottom of this book review for a very special surprise!

Every now and then lately I’ve felt a cool little breeze that reminds me that fall is on the way.  Now is a perfect time to start work on some quick projects so you’ll be ready when the first chill air of fall arrives.

The back cover of the book gives you an excellent overview of the projects inside:

I had a hard time selecting two projects that I wanted to feature for you. I love the colors of the Purple Mountain Hat and Mitts, so I thought about featuring that. Then I thought about featuring the Heartland Hat, Scarf, and Mitts set, since it’s always hard to find something to make for that special guy in your life. However, those just happen to be the designs Tammy chose to feature in her blog post yesterday. So I guess you’ll have to go on over to her blog tour post to see what she had to say about those designs!

I also really like the color and texture of the Pacific Northwest Hat, Gloves, and Scarf set, made using Cascade Yarns 220 Superwash, a worsted weight superwash wool yarn.

Those of you who know me, are surely aware that I love sparkle. So of course I also need to highlight the Metro Headwrap and Gloves. I absolutely love the beaded cuffs on the gloves and the beaded edges on the ends of the headwrap/scarf. These gloves also have a wonderful feature: you can pull back the tips of the thumb and first finger sections to expose your fingertips so you can use your smartphone or tablet without having to take off your entire glove.
