National Crochet Month
You’ve arrived at A Tour Through Crochet Country! During March 2013, Crochetville is hosting a daily designer blog tour in celebration of National Crochet Month. Each day, we visit the blogs of one or two crochet designers, who share something with us — a free crochet pattern or tutorial, a peek into their studio or a-day-in-the-life, a coupon code, or something else special. Join us each day for a new surprise!
On our 20th day of A Tour through Crochet Country, we’re visiting April Garwood and Mary Colucci for CGOA.

April is a very busy full-time mother of 4 who is very active in her local church yet still has found time to have a career as a crochet designer. She has a special love for natural fiber yarns and enjoys playing with color. Her favorite color combos are those she puts together in unexpected ways.
Many of April’s designs appear as free patterns on the Red Heart website. Her designs have been published in Crochet Today, Interweave Crochet, and Crochet World magazines. April has also self-published a number of patterns that can be found on Ravelry and on Etsy under the name Banana Moon Studio.
The colors in the Beautiful Arches Bolero remind of the pink and green always found in the beachwear designs of Lily Pulitzer.

Available on Ravelry
We had a wonderful sunny day, making me think of spring, and now the cold freezing weather is back. This project is perfect to work on while I’m waiting for spring to get here, so my old, tired flowerpots will be ready and waiting, newly refreshed, when it’s time to fill them with fresh spring flowers.

Today, CGOA board member Mary Colucci is going to talk to us about the importance of local chapters. She may share information about what current chapters are doing along with information on how to start a chapter of your own.
Mary has also served as Executive Director of the Craft Yarn Council and Warm Up America for the past 14 years.
See You Again Tomorrow!
I hope you enjoyed today’s stops visiting with April and Mary. Please come join us again tomorrow when we’ll visit with Alaina Klug.
Remember Project Night Night & CGOA
We would love your support for our blog tour charity, Project Night Night, which donates comforting nighttime packages to homeless children. You can help by making and sending new crocheted blankets (50” x 60” or smaller) and/or making a financial donation. If you contribute, won’t you please use our form to help us keep a blog-tour tally?
Our blog tour is also promoting another non-profit, the Crochet Guild of America (CGOA). All designers participating in the tour are Professional or Associate Professional members of the CGOA. If you’re not a member yet, there are so many reasons to join!
