The 2014 Designer Blog Tour in honor of National Crochet Month continues today with a visit to crochet designer Suzy Allen.
A physical therapist by day and a knit and crochet wear designer by night, Suzy often marries her two professions into one. She is inspired by the natural world around her, especially by its texture and color which she often takes and translates into her designs. When not knitting or crocheting, she can be found being a mom, hiking or going for a run.
Suzy is an extroverted, social person who can be found teaching at many of your favorite local yarn shops such as The Village Knitter in Babylon, NY, Knit New Haven in New Haven, CT or at the Green Mountain Knitters Weekend in Putney, VT. She loves to share her passion of knitting and crocheting. She loves to hear your stories about how you became a passionate needlework artist as well.

Being a CGOA member has opened my eyes to many wonderful opportunities and allows me to explore my love of crochet in new ways each year.
Suzy’s Designs
We’d like to highlight two of Suzy’s designs, just to give you a sneak peek at her work.
Farmer’s Market Capelet: To Suzy, there is nothing like getting up early on a summer Saturday and heading to your local Farmer’s Market to gather the freshest produce. This capelet is just enough to keep the chill away of the breezy summer mornings. Made from Green Mountain Spinnery’s Sylvan Spirit, the wool tencel blend is the perfect choice for this gorgeous capelet.
Tangerine Crush Cowl: Worked in a simple stitch combination, this cowl is the perfect accent to any summer outfit. This Tangerine color was picked by Pantone as the color of the year (2012). A cowl is a great way to add a little color to your summer wardrobe.
