Marcy Smith, CGOA Online Education Committee Board Liaison
Crochetville is very proud to have Marcy Smith, Online Education Committee Board Liaison for the Crochet Guild of America with us today, March 29, as one of the featured designers on our 2015 Designer Blog Tour in honor of National Crochet Month (NatCroMo).
About Marcy:
Marcy learned to crochet when she was young, about the same time she learned to macramé and make pompoms. She has been wallowing in fibery pursuits to varying degrees ever since. Her job as editor of Interweave Crochet allows her first glance at the innovations of today’s cutting-edge crochet designers, which surprises her every time she opens a batch of submissions. As the crochet content strategist for FW Media, she places crochet across a spectrum of media: magazines, videos, Web seminars, and online courses. Her current non-fiber activities include training for a 5K and studying up on the teenage brain.
Two of Marcy’s Designs:
Jam Fest Trivets, published in Interweave Crochet Home 2014
Best Friend Finger Puppets, published in Interweave Knits, Holiday Gifts 2009

Why She’s a Member of CGOA:
Marcy says, “When I attended my first CGOA conference, I was overwhelmed by the crochet love that infused the show. I knew I needed to be near that as much as possible. CGOA is committed to encouraging growth and knowledge in crochet, and as a board member, I can help support that growth for both current and prospective members. ”
CGOA Conference Story:
A designer who shall not be named (but who wears hi-tops in complementary colors) + a skunk, outside the hotel lobby in Manchester. That’s all I can tell you.

Why She’s Serving on the Board of Directors:
I was and continue to be interested in developing CGOA’s presence in both the actual and virtual worlds. I love being a part of providing learning opportunities for both professionals in the crochet industry and crocheters who love to crochet.
This is my fourth year on the board. In 2014 I served as president, which was a rich experience. This year, I am working with the online education committee to expand CGOA’s online offerings.
