Want to Chat about the Tour?
Part of the fun of taking a passenger steam train trip is talking with your fellow passengers. This year, we’re providing two locations where our passengers can get to know each other. We’d love to hear about your favorite things you’ve discovered on the tour and see photos of your current crochet projects. You’re invited to join us daily for virtual cocktails/appetizers and dinner. (We’ll be sharing links to some fabulous recipes!)

Alessandra Hayden, Just Be Happy Crochet
Crochetville is very proud to have designer Alessandra Hayden with us today as one of the featured designers on our 2016 Designer Blog Tour in honor of National Crochet Month (NatCroMo). If you’d like to know even more about Alessandra, check out our post from last year’s blog tour.
About Alessandra:
Alessandra Hayden is a thirty something passionate crochet designer that lives in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with her husband, two kids and her sweet old Jack Russel Terrier. She loves to create colorful & whimsical crochet patterns, drink black coffee and visit new places.
Tell us about your favorite travel destination.
I love going to Brazil to see my family, no matter what season it is, it’s always warm. Brazil is very colorful, which inspires my crochet work.
Other than Brazil, I would have to say that the Hawaiian island of Maui is a favorite in my opinion. Lovely weather, beautiful views and amazing food! (I have to admit – I love food! LOL)
Tell us about a “dream” travel location that you’d like to visit one day.
Well, I have a list of places I would love to travel to, but a Mediterranean cruise is one of the top places on the list. I would love to see the Greek islands, eat their amazing food and just relax on the beach with a crochet hook and some yarn.
Do you visit yarn stores when traveling? If so, tell us about one of your favorite finds.
Yes, every time I go somewhere new I do an online research to find a yarn store. Last year I had the opportunity to visit Santiago, Chile and shop at several yarn stores, I scored some fabulous Chilean alpaca yarn!
Packing: Tell us about any crochet clothing or accessories you pack when traveling. Do you have any really cool packing tips to share?
If I am going somewhere cold, I will bring hats and scarves, but unfortunately I don’t have any cool tip to share.
Tell us about any crochet projects you take with you when traveling: How many projects do you take? How do you decide which ones to take?
I try to take a project that will only use one or two colors of yarn max, so I don’t have to worry about changing colors, cutting yarn, or the yarn tangling. Hats and scarves are my favorites on the go projects.
Do you have any stories or anything else travel-related that you’d like to share with our blog tour readers?
I would just like to encourage my fellow crocheters to bring their projects when they travel, specially if you’re going alone! Crocheting is a great conversation starter, people get curious, they share their experiences and it’s simply wonderful!
