Welcome to Crochetville’s fourth annual National Crochet Month (NatCroMo) blog tour, taking place each day of March 2016. Join us as we take a virtual tour on our passenger steam train, The Crochet Express, visiting crochet designers, crochet-friendly local yarn stores, and yarn companies, and offer some fun giveaways.

Want to Chat about the Tour?

Part of the fun of taking a passenger steam train trip is talking with your fellow passengers. This year, we’re providing two locations where our passengers can get to know each other. We’d love to hear about your favorite things you’ve discovered on the tour and see photos of your current crochet projects. You’re invited to join us daily for virtual cocktails/appetizers and dinner. (We’ll be sharing links to some fabulous recipes!)

Tian Connaughton, KnitDesigns by Tian

Tian Connaughton | Crochet Designer

Crochetville is very proud to have designer Tian Connaughton with us today as one of the featured designers on our 2016 Designer Blog Tour in honor of National Crochet Month (NatCroMo).

About Tian:

I am the crochet and knitwear designer, and tech editor behind KnitDesigns by Tian. I live in a small town in Western Massachusetts with my fantasy author husband, Daniel, and son, Aidan. Teaching is at the heart of how I approach design. While my style tends toward classic shapes and silhouettes, my designs are intended to provide learning opportunities featuring interesting and unique details. I blog about crochet, knit, and design at knitdesignsbytian.blogspot.com.

Tell us about your favorite travel destination.

My family and I have been to a lot of cool places. We have been on cruises and to the Caribbean. I don’t really have a favorite travel destination. Every new place we go is a new adventure.

Tell us about a “dream” travel location that you’d like to visit one day.

Wow, this is a great question. We have so many “dream” locations on our list. One of our big, long term location is Machu Picchu, to see the Inca ruins.

A Few of Tian’s Designs:

Crescent Lace Shawl | Tian Connaughton

Crescent Lace Shawl, $6.00

What would your girl friends say if you wore the Crescent Lace Shawl to brunch? This shawl is the perfect, delicate accent to add to your spring time wardrobe.

Add a touch a elegance to the little white tank dress. Make a subtle statement.

Harwinton Easy Lace Boomerang | Tian Connaughton

Harwinton Easy Lace Boomerang, $6.00

The Harwinton Easy Lace Boomerang is a fast, easy, and addicting asymmetric crochet shawl worked sideways in an all-over lace 2-row pattern and finished with a picot edge. A perfect accessory for warmer weather.

Candeo Shawl | Tian Connaughton

Candeo Shawl, $6.00

Candeo, Latin for sparkle, uses a single skein of beautiful glittery sock weight yarn.

Candeo is a crochet boomerang style, asymmetric shawl worked sideways with a lace edge worked at the time. Candeo is simple and versatile, perfect for that special single skein. The shawl is great for variegated yarns at any weight. Just continue in pattern until you have enough yarn to work a row of single crochet and fasten off.
