Want to Chat about the Tour?

Part of the fun of taking a passenger steam train trip is talking with your fellow passengers. This year, we’re providing two locations where our passengers can get to know each other. We’d love to hear about your favorite things you’ve discovered on the tour and see photos of your current crochet projects. You’re invited to join us daily for virtual cocktails/appetizers and dinner. (We’ll be sharing links to some fabulous recipes!)

March 29 Daily Giveaway

Get Squared Retreat | Atlanta, GA

Special thanks to Jenny King Designs for sponsoring the March 29 Daily Giveaway on The Crochet Express. Jenny has generously donated one student spot at the upcoming Get Squared Retreat in Atlanta, GA, July 5-9, 2016. The donation covers the $350 retreat fee; winner is responsible for their own meals, travel, and hotel accommodations (at the Comfort Suites Perimeter Center in Marietta; group code coming soon).

Scroll down to the bottom of the post to see the Entry Form and Terms and Conditions.

More about the Get Squared Retreat:

In a nutshell, the Get Squared® Retreat is a chance to get away from the stresses and cares of work and family life. A time to focus on being your most authentic, beautiful self. Instructors Jenny King, Amy Shelton, and Tammy Hildebrand will be there to guide you along the way. You’ll learn a new technique to make crochet garments that will fit you (or anyone else) perfectly, the first time and every time. All with any yarn of your choice and your trusty size J-10/6.0 mm hook, with no need to worry about making gauge swatches or complicated pattern adjustments. Sounds unbelievable, right? Trust us: It works! You’ll also learn how to select colors that will best show off your natural beauty and how to select garment styles that will show off your figure assets. (Yes, you really do have figure assets!)

Unlike at a conference or show, you’ll spend more than just the 15 hours of classroom time with your instructors. You’ll be able to get to know us on a more personal level, while enjoying a hot breakfast buffet and evening cocktails and light dinner with us every day. Not to mention the extra-special fun evening activities we have planned for you! Only at a retreat will you get to spend so much time with your instructors!

Worried about whether you have the skills needed for this retreat? If you can chain, single crochet, double crochet, and achieve fairly consistent tension, you are good to go! The retreat is even perfect for knitters who crochet only enough to put trim on a project.

  1. This will not be the first time making garments. It is my favorite to make garments to wear and to gift family members or for samples for designers. Thanks for the opportunity. I think this will be a fabulous retreat.

  2. I love wearing garments I’ve made. I was so inspired by the beautiful clothing crocheted by everyone at the last Knit and Crochet show I attended.
However, I hope to win this so I can improve my skills!
Thanks so much for the chance to win.

  4. Thanks again to the opportunity to contend for a Get Squared Retreat giveaway! I tend to prefer to make accessories, although I have made a smattering of clothing. I would like to feel more comfortable making clothing.

  5. I haven’t made a garment yet, but I really want to try my hand at a lacy shrug. This retreat would be the perfect opportunity to learn!

  6. I love making crocheted garments when I have the time. In particular have made a number of crocheted tops (both tee and tunic styles). I have even designed a few (very few) crocheted tops. Love exploring new techniques for tops and one I designed for myself is worked side to side instead of top-down or bottom-up.

  7. I have never crocheted a garment so this would be a way for me to not only learn a new skill but experience my first retreat! This one is only about an hour for me too which makes me super excited!

  8. I made one sweater years ago. I’d like to learn your technique as I’ve gained weight and plus sizes get weird sometimes. Thanks

  9. I hope I get to attend this conference! It would be the first time I get to learn how to make my own crocheted garment. I have always wanted to learn how to make sweaters and other clothing items. Thanks for the chance to win!

  10. I have made some garments. I have the Get Squared program and I started a project. I might actually finish it if I were at the retreat. lol

  11. I have made garments before but this would be the first time under professional guidance. Hopefully this would lead to a better result!

  12. I have made a few garments but would love a faster technique. Look for patterns for larger women. Atlanta is in my home state!

  13. Yes! I cannot get enough of making and wearing crocheted items, especially if the design is mine, or a variation of another pattern. The challenge to figure it out, make revisions as I go, then have it come out where I can wear it in public is so gratifying. Thank you for the opportunity to win a spot at this retreat!
