Want to Chat about the Tour?
Part of the fun of taking a passenger steam train trip is talking with your fellow passengers. This year, we’re providing two locations where our passengers can get to know each other. We’d love to hear about your favorite things you’ve discovered on the tour and see photos of your current crochet projects. You’re invited to join us daily for virtual cocktails/appetizers and dinner. (We’ll be sharing links to some fabulous recipes!)

Michele Maks, Mainly Crochet
Crochetville is very proud to have designer Michele Maks with us today, March 30, as one of the featured designers on our 2016 Designer Blog Tour in honor of National Crochet Month (NatCroMo). If you’d like to know even more about Michele, check out our post from last year’s blog tour.
About Michele:
I have been crocheting professionally since 1985. Before that, I was a dairy farmer! I actually started out with knitting, but soon began to find crochet to be more my style.
1. Tell us about your favorite travel destination:
I don’t do too much travelling, but anywhere there’s a beach is fine by me!
2. Tell us about a “dream” travel location that you’d like to visit one day:
I’ve always wondered what the tropics were like–and this April, I’m going to get to find out! My doctor daughter ends her 3 year residency with both a final exam and mandatory conference in Puerto Rico–and I’m being brought along!
3. Do you visit yarn stores when traveling? If so, tell us about one of your favorite finds.
Fiber anywhere always interests me. I am fortunate that Halcyon Yarns is here in Bath, on my way to town.
4. Packing: Tell us about any crochet clothing or accessories you pack when traveling. Do you have any cool packing tips to share?
I’m a very basic dresser, but I like to add scarves, scarves, and more scarves. Basic black garments, and as many crocheted scarves as can fit!
5. Tell us about any crochet projects you take with you when traveling: How many projects do you take? How do you decide which ones to take?
This question explains why I like to travel by car: so I can fit bins of yarn and projects in the back seat and trunk. I rarely leave home with fewer than 3 projects.
6. Do you have any stories or anything else travel-related that you’d like to share with our blog tour readers?
None that I can post here. They’re either slightly off-color or politically incorrect! You’ll have to wait for the book!

My blog post will have all the links to my recent CAL (crochet-along): the Textured Squares Throw. Free patterns for all the squares, plus helps, will become available for everyone on the blog tour. Come on over to my blog for details and patterns!
Michele’s Designs:
If you’re not familiar with my work already, I’d like to share three of my designs with you.
1. Every Which Way Shawls, $1.99
Do you prefer to work back and forth, or lengthwise? We give you the choice with these shawls in Lion Brand’s Homespun yarn.
2. Shark!, $3.99
Lion Brand’s Hometown USA makes quick work of this intarsia and appliqued toothy fellow. Whether it’s for your little one or for a TV-watching shark fan, this cozy throw will warm and amuse.
3. Baby Basket Weave Blanket, $3.99
The traditional granny square is given a post-stitch treatment, creating boxes of basket weave for Baby. Designed in Red Heart Super Saver.
