Want to Chat about the Tour?
Part of the fun of taking a passenger steam train trip is talking with your fellow passengers. This year, we’re providing two locations where our passengers can get to know each other. We’d love to hear about your favorite things you’ve discovered on the tour and see photos of your current crochet projects. You’re invited to join us daily for virtual cocktails/appetizers and dinner. (We’ll be sharing links to some fabulous recipes!)

Annelies Baes, Vicarno
Crochetville is very proud to have designer Annelies Baes with us today as one of the featured designers on our 2016 Designer Blog Tour in honor of National Crochet Month (NatCroMo).
About Annelies:
Hi, I am Annelies.
I live in Belgium, married, and we have 2 boys : Vic (8 years old) and Arno (17 years old).
I started crocheting some years ago, and it became my passion, and after a while, even my job. I am an autodidact designer, and I love trendy, modern garments and accessories with great comfort and fit. I specialize in topdown seamless designs.
My website : www.en.vicarno.com
I hope to hear from you !
Tell us about your favorite travel destination.
My favourite travel destination is Italy. I love the food, the wheather, people are so nice and open and friendly. I like the passion, the vivacity, the entire italian atmosphere a lot. In fact, I think I would like living there as well 🙂
I am dreaming about visiting Uruguay one day, and Scotland and Ireland attract me as well.
Tell us about a “dream” travel location that you’d like to visit one day.
I am dreaming about visiting Uruguay one day, and Scotland and Ireland attract me as well.
Do you visit yarn stores when traveling? If so, tell us about one of your favorite finds.
Yes, whenever I am on holiday, I try to visit some yarn shops. I am always hoping to find little indie dyer shops, or local yarn shops selling homespun and handdyed yarn (from their own sheep.)
Packing: Tell us about any crochet clothing or accessories you pack when traveling. Do you have any really cool packing tips to share?
When traveling, I always take some shawls with me. They are so great ! You can wear them on chilly days, or in the evening, I use them as small blankets for the children, and I even use them in the car, when we have a long drive, so I can wrap myself (or one of my beloved ones) in it for some extra warmth and comfort.
And I do not leave without a crocheted cardigan either !
Tell us about any crochet projects you take with you when traveling: How many projects do you take? How do you decide which ones to take?
This is a hard question 🙂
I usually take too much with me. I am always afraid I will not have enough balls of yarn with me, or not the ‘right crochet hook’.
I like to be able to choose between several options, projects, when I am on holiday.
There is 1 important rule for my ‘travelling projects’ : I prefer designs or projects that do not require too much counting or attention. To be able to enjoy my holiday at the best !
Do you have any stories or anything else travel-related that you’d like to share with our blog tour readers?
When travelling or on holiday, I notice lots of people start talking to me, about the crochet accessories I am wearing, or about me sitting somewhere crocheting. Crochet seems to be a great way to meet new people, have interesting talks and enjoy lots of quality time with new friends !
