Want to Chat about the Tour?

Part of the fun of taking a passenger steam train trip is talking with your fellow passengers. This year, we’re providing two locations where our passengers can get to know each other. We’d love to hear about your favorite things you’ve discovered on the tour and see photos of your current crochet projects. You’re invited to join us daily for virtual cocktails/appetizers and dinner. (We’ll be sharing links to some fabulous recipes!)

Justyna Kacprzak, Cute and Kaboodle

Crochetville is very proud to have designer Justnya Kacprzak with us today as one of the featured designers on our 2016 Designer Blog Tour in honor of National Crochet Month (NatCroMo). If you’d like to know even more about Justyna, check out our post from last year’s blog tour.

About Justyna:

It all started from… knitting. Fascinated by watching my mom skillfully using her needles, I made it my goal to master knitting too. I was still in primary school when I finished my first project which was a scarf (surprise, surprise). A few years later, I discovered that there is yet another technique worth exploring – crochet. I gave it a try, but my first attempt was a total failure. And so was the second one. I thought “Well, third time lucky”, and failed again. But my stubborn nature didn’t let me accept the defeat. I found myself a patient teacher and somehow managed to make my first single crochets. From then on, I haven’t stopped crocheting and even abandoned knitting for a couple of years, so that I could have more time for my new love.

Although I’m already a mother, I still feel like a child inside and, since I can’t play with toys anymore, I really enjoy making them. And if I can design my own – it’s double fun!

My favorite place to crochet is my bed, particularly with a cup of tea in the immediate vicinity.

Tell us about your favorite travel destination.

I love going to the mountains. I don’t climb, extreme sports are not for me, but I really enjoy walking. We have some beautiful mountains in Poland and I already reached most of the summits in Karkonosze.

Tell us about a “dream” travel location that you’d like to visit one day.

Well, I’m not into travelling, really. But I’d love to visit USA one day because I have lots of friends there and I’d like to meet them. Plus, it’s a beautiful country and there are some amazing landscapes worth seeing, so double fun. Yeah, I think it would be the States!

Packing: Tell us about any crochet clothing or accessories you pack when traveling. Do you have any really cool packing tips to share?

I always take my project bag with me. I like some mindless patterns, so that I don’t have to take much instructions with me.

A Few of Justyna’s Designs

Dr Hookenstein's Living Room Creature

Dr Hookenstein’s Living Room Creature, $5.00

Teddy bears are kids’ best friends – this one will be no exception. Being 7.5”/19cm (sitting) he’s great to hug and cuddle! This bear was a part of our annual supermysterious CAL with Dr Hookenstein. Be sure to join us this year around Halloween!

Tilda Style Bunny | Justyna Kacprzak

Tilda Style Bunny, $5.50

I always loved the look of the Tilda toys – bunnies, angels, snails… But since my sewing skills are still in the budding phase, I decided to crochet a bunny in a similar style – long legs, long ears, simple dress and lots of charm!

Purrfect Kitty Ornament |Justyna Kacprzak

Purrfect Kitty Ornament, $5.00

If you’re tired of Santas, snowmen and reindeers, I have a cat for your tree this year! And because at the bottom of my heart I’m really traditional, I added a bauble, too. And, apparently, the kitty doesn’t mind… This pattern is a crochet version of my Swinging Kitty Ornament 🙂
