You’ve arrived at the annual NatCroMo Designer Blog Tour 2022! It’s a virtual celebration of National Crochet Month with new blog content daily throughout March, including featured crochet designers, pattern showcases, free patterns, coupons, discounts, giveaways, and more. This year’s theme is Pawprints on Our Hearts, so we’ll talk about our pets – furry, feathered, and scaly!
Some of the links on this page will earn us a commission if you make a purchase through them. View our disclosure policy for details.

Today’s featured designer on our NatCroMo Designer Blog Tour 2022 is Rebecca Velasquez of Revel. In addition to showcasing some of her crochet patterns, for our theme, Pawprints on Our Hearts, she tells us about her cat named Raven and her two dogs named Lucy and Mila.
We appreciate our NatCroMo designers so much! They’ve so graciously shared their time (and often a special goodie) with us, let’s show them some love! Some ways to do that are to like, follow, and shop! ❤️

About Rebecca
Mom of 4 kiddos that went and grew up without asking and wife to my Mr. Wonderful. I live in Houston, Texas where I pretty much hang out in my studio all day drinking coffee, crocheting &/or knitting and hiding from the heat. Playing with yarn is equal parts daily meditation and job. My design work in both crochet and knit is as much of necessity to my being as it is a pleasure.

Rebecca’s Pets
I have always been a dog person. Love them all! My husband is a cat person. So we have never had a home without furbabies.
Our Raven is a gorgeous, longhair solid black kitty. She fit in the palm of my hand when she joined our family 14 years ago. Still a petite lady, barely weighing 9 lbs. She has zero personal space and believes that all food belongs to her, she will take what she wants and does not care if there are objections.
My Lucy is a blue heeler (Australian cattle dog). She, also was a tiny ball of fluff – 13 years ago. Her once black mask is now a charcoal grey and she moves slower than I’m willing to accept. But she’s still very spunky and keeps Raven on her toes.
And Mila, my precious, beautiful, Mila. The black lab we didn’t know we needed. She unexpectedly joined our family almost 3 years ago when she was 9 mos old. She has a been a light in life every day since.
Favorite Crochet Reference
What is one of your favorite crochet reference books or websites that is a go-to source of crochet information for you?
My go-to book when I’m researching stitch patterns is the Harmony Guide to Crocheting. I have the 1992 version, it’s literally falling apart. I love the way the stitches are sorted, and that each stitch pattern is written very thoroughly with an accompanying stitch diagram.

Design Showcase:
Bentley
Pattern name: Bentley
Get the pattern: http://www.rebeccavelasquez.com/bentley/
About the pattern: I know it’s spring, but over on the blog we are making a new snowflake every month of the year. Bentley is January’s flake

Design Showcase:
Stani
Pattern name: Stani
Get the pattern: http://www.rebeccavelasquez.com/stani/
About the pattern: Stani is a big, squishy, super easy shawl. I think it might be my favorite make.

Design Showcase:
Wyss
Pattern name: Wyss
Get the pattern: http://www.rebeccavelasquez.com/wyss/
About the pattern: If you love Tunisian, or are wanting to give it a try, Wyss is a nice option. There is enough simple stitch that you get comfortable with the rhythm of Tunisian, and then a new, lace stitch is added to increase your skill level. Make in a light weight yarn for a great spring shawl
